MY DICK IS STILL TWITCHING and needy as I walk into the Dominant Alpha Gym. Maggie’s scent is still swirling inside me, making my mouth water and my heart jackhammer in my chest. I thought about bailing on the meeting, but something in my gut told me to go, so as hard as it was to leave Maggie, I’m here.
The scent of sweat and IcyHot hit me as the humid warmth of the gym wraps around me. There are grunts in the air. Slaps of flesh on flesh, fists onto bags, and the heavy breathing of a dozen or so guys working or sparring in cages and a few practice rings.
I look around and at the back of the huge space I see Grizz raise a hand and wave me over. He’s standing next to an older guy who is eyeing me as I approach.
His look isn’t confrontational; it’s hard, but more like an evaluation with a narrow gaze and a trained eye.
It took all my willpower to leave Maggie even for a few hours, but she was wiped out after our fourth round. I warmed up the coffee, gave her some water because she sure as shit was dehydrated. By the time I kissed her forehead and tucked the blanket around her on the couch where I’d settled in next to her, she was sound asleep.
I told her I would be back, it would be a few hours, and this time instead of being an idiot I also made sure I got her number so I could call, text and generally stalk her until I was able to get back.
Grizz steps up and takes my hand. “Glad to see you.” He puts his other hand on my shoulder, then nods toward the older guy sitting at a table drinking coffee from a brown mug. “This is Teddy.”
He eyes me up and down, taking a sip from his mug, then sniffs on a throaty groan. “Your video was something. Where’d you fight before?”
I shrug. “Nowhere you’d know. Here and there. Never really took interest in the fight, just the win. Only when I have to.”
“Uh huh.” He swallows, drumming his fingers on the brown table that looks like it came out of some garage workshop. “You lie to me, we got nothing.”
Grizz raises his eyebrows, then looks at Teddy, and I cross my arms over my chest. “I’m a lot of things. Some good. Some not so good. Liar is not one of them. I train, spar now and then when I train. That’s it.”
He nods, snapping his tongue on his bottom lip, then sighs. “Fair enough. You bring your gear?”
I nod. “In the car.”
“Go get it. I want to see you move. See you spar with Toledo over there. He’s the current middle weight G & P champ. Keep him warm.” He looks over his shoulder, where an older woman is shuffling papers behind a counter. “Maria. Get a waiver out.” He looks back at me. “We’re gonna see what he’s got.
